Die Stadt Leer ist das Wirtschafts-, Einkaufs- und Kulturzentrum des Landkreises Leer.
Die Stadt Leer (Ostfriesland) liegt als Mittelzentrum und Kreisstadt im Zentrum des Landkreises Leer. Die Stadt wird im Westen durch die Ems und im Süden durch dessen Nebenfluss Leda begrenzt. Neben Emden und Aurich ist sie mit aktuell rund 35.000 Einwohner*innen (LSN) die drittgrößte Stadt Ostfrieslands und hat in den vergangenen Jahren stets an Einwohner*innen hinzugewonnen.
Leer gliedert sich neben der Kernstadt in acht weitere Stadtteile. Hierzu gehören Nüttermoor, Logabirum, Loga, Heisfelde, Hohegaste, Bingum, Nettelburg sowie Leerort. Ein Großteil der Bevölkerung lebt in den Stadtteilen Heisfelde und Loga sowie insbesondere in der Kernstadt.
