| Comment on the transport infrastructure: | Through the motorway routes Oldenburg-Wilhelmshaven and Oldenburg-Leer (A 28 and A 29), the municipality of Wiefelstede has gained significance over and beyond its own location over the past few years. The two commercial estates Leuchtenburg and Westerholtsfelde are situated in the immediate vicinity of the two motorway routes. Alongside that, there has been a positive business development in the main towns of the municipality, namely Wiefelstede and Metjendorf, as well. Local public transport is also becoming increasingly important. |

Location description¹:
The municipality of Wiefelstede comprises several small, cozy villages spread across the idyllic parkland of the Ammerland. With 800 hectares of woodland, the municipality is the most densely wooded municipality in the Ammerland. With its inclusion in the Natura 2000 cross-border nature conservation project of the Council of the European Community, the Mansholt bushes have gained Europe-wide significance. National hiking trails lead through this scenic gem.
The Protestant St. John's Church in Wiefelstede is the oldest church in the Ammerland. It was consecrated in 1057. The Christian Father organ, one of the most important organs in the world, is currently undergoing extensive restoration work.
Wiefelstede offers a wide range of leisure activities and is very centrally located for exploring the surrounding area. The coast is only 20 minutes away by car.
In October 2011, the Ammerland solar park was officially opened in the presence of the then Minister President David McAllister - at 20.8 MW, it was the largest area photovoltaic plant in Lower Saxony at the time. On the former airfield site of the Oldenburg air base, 196,000 modules produce around 20 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year, enough for 6,000 four-person households.
