Other educational facilities¹: | The Hildesheim region enjoys a strong position in respect of vocational schooling. It profits from the tertiary institutions within the major regional centre of Hildesheim and from the high density of universities, colleges and research institutes within the "research triangle" formed by Hannover-Braunschweig-Göttingen. Hildesheim is the location for an endowment university (inter alia with a department of information and communication sciences), the University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule) Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen (inter alia business studies, construction engineering, architecture, design), and the Lower Saxony College of Administration and Judicature (FHVR). |
Other medical health facilities: | Public health and health care is one of the priorities in the Hildesheim region. The spa town of Bad Salzdetfurth is the region's health and wellness centre (http://www.bad-salzdetfurth.de). |
Leisure facilities: | The Hildesheim region connects the greater landscape area of the North German Plain with the low mountain range of the Harz Mountains. The resulting topography, with the plains of the Hildesheimer Börde in the northern district and the Leinebergland and Harz foothills in the south-west, has created a charming and varied landscape that offers a wide range of leisure and vacation activities. The region is easily accessible by car, train and plane, making it an ideal destination for travel and recreation. However, the Hildesheim region does not only invite you to enjoy leisure activities in nature. Numerous castles and palaces, museums, galleries as well as music and theater performances offer a wide range of cultural activities for every taste. |
Cultural facilities: | Numerous museums, e.g. the Roemer and Pelizaeus Museum in Hildesheim; the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage sites - St. Michael's Church and St. Mary's Cathedral in Hildesheim; music and theatre, e.g. the Stadttheater in Hildesheim; art treasures and architectural delights in many cloisters, castles and chateaus |
Sport facilities: | A well-developed and signposted network of cycling routes, countless hiking trails, leisure parks, golf courses, and much more - those who enjoy sport in their free time will find a broad range of possibilities. |
