As a state-approved climatic health resort, the district town of Wildeshausen is the main recreational area in the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park. In addition to the historic town center, 18 villages belong to the town of Wildeshausen. As the oldest town in the Oldenburg region, Wildeshausen was first mentioned in a document in 851.
