Special
location features¹
The District of Oldenburg lies "in the centre of the centres". That means that the major regional centres of Bremen and Oldenburg can be very quickly reached from here as a result of the District's geographical position linking these two prime locations. Outstanding transport links, a good infrastructure and towns and villages with a recognised high quality of living in residential and leisure terms and an attractive diversity of countryside with excellent hiking and cycle touring possibilities make up the special attractiveness of the District and stand for high quality of life within a rural area. The dense network of motorways offers easy access to many business locations.

The District is distinguished by a business-friendly local government both in the eight constituent municipalities (including one so-called integrated municipality) and in the administration of the District of Oldenburg itself. In 2008 the District also won an award for being an "SME-friendly local community" within the state of Niedersachsen.

The Economic Development Company WLO for the District of Oldenburg provides an axis of communication that gives each investor a competent point of contact for any intended project.

In terms of its economic structure, the District of Oldenburg is mainly dominated by small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) and has a balanced industrial mix.
