Site occupancy index   (GRZ)    The site occupancy or building area index (in German: Grundflächenzahl or GRZ) specifies how many square metres of base area are permissible per square metre of land. The permissible building area is thus the proportion of the real estate that can be covered by buildings.

Floor space index   (GFZ)    The floor space or storey area index (in German: Geschossflächenzahl or GFZ) specifies how many square metres of floor space are permissible. The floor space is determined according to the external dimensions of the building in all its storeys with full extent.

Cubic index   (BMZ)    The cubic or building mass index (in German: Baumassenzahl or BMZ) specifies how many cubic metres of total structural volume are permissible per square metre of land area. The building mass is determined according to the external dimensions of the building.
