Die Gemeinde Dörverden ist eine Einheitsgemeinde mit rd. 9.000 Einwohnerinnen und Einwohnern im niedersächsischen Landkreis Verdend direkt an der Bundesstraße 215 (B 215) gelegen.
In Dörverden gibt es einen Bahnhof (Bahnstrecke 1740; Bahnhalt DB Regio; RE 1: Hannover Hbf - Bremen - Norddeich-Mole und RE 8: Hannover Hbf - Bremen Hbf - Bremerhaven-Lehe).
Die nächstgelegenen Autobahnanschlüsse befinden sich an der Autobahn 27 (A 27) in ca. 12 km Entfernung in der benachbarten Kreisstadt Verden (Aller) über die Anschlusstellen Verden-Nord oder Verden-Ost.
Die Gemeinde wird geografisch gesäumt von den Bundeswasserstraßen Weser und Aller.
