Special location features¹ | | The District of Stade is the location of a research centre and a Technology Centre in which the business and scientific communities and the public authorities are jointly pushing forward the development, production and application of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics (in German: CFK). The Buxtehude Technology Centre smooths the way for start-up entrepreneurs taking their first steps towards independence in technology- and production-oriented business domains. Apart from office space, the Stade Start-Up and Innovation Centre (Gründungs- und Innovationszentrum) also offers its tenants a common infrastructure and consulting services during their start-up phase. In addition, the District is the seat of an an internationally recognised competence centre for fruit-growing in Northern Germany with the ESTEBURG Obstbauzentrum Jork. |

The broadly ranged educational and further training infrastructure includes schools of further education as well as vocational colleges with close contacts to the industrial and business community. The District is also a location for tertiary education. Thanks to the Hochschule 21 and, since 2006, the Private University of Applied Sciences in Göttingen as well, students and companies are offered a combination of theory and practice that opens up excellent career prospects. In addition, the multifaceted range of offers provided by the tertiary education "on the doorstep" with various teaching and research priorities give enterprises excellent opportunities to attract and recruit the next generation of specialists and exploit the transfer of knowledge between universities and business more effectively. | Transport¹ | Comment on the transport infrastructure:
| The District of Stade business location is growing in big steps forward. The location is becoming interesting because the transport infrastructure that exists there, such as the seaport Stade with its sea deep waterfront, or the terminal for intermodal transhipment in Stade Brunshausen. In both cases an expansion of capacity is currently planned, which will further enhance the overall efficiency of the location for business purposes when implemented. The transport links to Hamburg were made another bit more effective at the end of 2007 with the completion of the rapid-transit railway system (S-Bahn) connection from Stade to Hamburg.
The infrastructure projects that will be realised over the next few years also open up further perspectives. The A 26 motorway from Stade to Hamburg, which is already under construction and the first section of which is already completed and in use, is one example, as is the River Elbe crossing to the west of Stade with its continuation in the south direction as the A 20. These links supplement the already existing links to the A 1 Hamburg - Bremen motorway, the ICE rail station in Hamburg-Harburg, and Hamburg Airport. | | |
