Special location features¹ | Rotenburg (Wümme) is distinguished by its favourable location between the urban agglomerations of Bremen and Hamburg. Access to the supraregional road network is provided by the A 1 Hamburg-Bremen, which cuts through the middle of the district, and a range of federal and district highways. Among the many different rail lines running through the district, the route between Hamburg and Bremen is of particular significance for the wider region.
Despite the relatively low population density, the level of infrastructure in the district is considerable. All the central locations can point to a broad spectrum of schools and competitive-level sports facilities. Modern, highly respected hospitals in Rotenburg, Zeven and Bremervörde, several welfare centres, and residential and nursing homes for the elderly provide comprehensive medical and social care at the local level.
However, it is not just the so-called "hard location factors" that are convincing in Rotenburg (Wümme). With its unspoilt streams and river valleys, heathland areas, forests, woodland and moors, as well as its lively towns and well-kept villages, the district has grown into a popular local vacation destination. Numerous offerings from adult education institutions and the diverse activities presented by local clubs and societies provide for a versatile programme of educational and cultural activities. |
