Local urban centre of intermediate rank within the catchment area of the major regional centres of Bremerhaven, Oldenburg and Wilhelmshaven. Nordenham has a high residential and recreational value.

cabaret, varieté, rock and pop music.
The Friedeburg civic hall offers facilities for theatre productions, symphony concerts, rock concerts, balls, conventions and trade exhibitions. |  | Sport facilities:
| The city runs 3 sports centres each with 2 sports grounds and one large-scale sports hall. It also runs an open-air swimming pool and the 'North' indoor swimming baths. In addition, there are gymnasia and sports fields in every district.
The municipal sports sites are used for school sports and placed at the disposal of the sports clubs for their activities free of charge.
The clubs themselves have various facilities such as several shooting ranges, a gliding field, a sport boat harbour, fitness centres and tennis courts. |  |  |
