Niedersachsen remains attractive international logistics location

Current Logistics Market Survey presented at the event “Logistics State Niedersachsen – Quo Vadis?”

Around 150 representatives from business, transport and politics met on December 10th in Hannover at the invitation of the association Logistikportal Niedersachsen e.V. to discuss the current development and importance of the federal state as a logistics location. In his opening address, State Economics Minister Jörg Bode pointed to the positive signals sent out by the logistics industry despite the tense economic situation: “The cross-section industry logistics, which is so important to Niedersachsen, has developed solidly in 2008 as well. The outlook for 2009 that also emerges from the survey results and current trend assessments shows that we do not have to expect a permanent decline in investment activity,” as Minister Bode summed up from the “ Logistics Market Survey 2008/2009” presented.

104 logistics-related investments were able to be realised in 2008. Altogether, around 600 million euros were invested in logistics real estate, primarily in distribution centres. Through these investments, it has been possible to create 4,500 new jobs directly and secure the existence of around 11,000 jobs in Niedersachsen.
