What is KomSIS?

The “Kommunale Standort-Informations-System (KomSIS)” stands:

• for Niedersachsen's business information portal “KomSIS.de” with its comprehensive presentation in the Internet of available industrial real estate, business sites and commercial properties along with detailed location profiles of all the districts, cities and municipalities.
• for an innovative information system of Niedersachsen's local and regional political units for individual data management, for the central maintenance of data and for the decentralised multiple presentation of the data profiles in the Internet sites of the local authorities, (state) institutions and regional alliances.
• for a statewide network of the local and regional political units and several institutions and facilities from the areas of inward investment, regional marketing and location marketing.

Who runs the Internet portal?

“KomSIS.de” is a service offer from the administrative districts and self-governing cities in Niedersachsen for national and international investors and companies looking for a business location. The operation of the Internet portal is funded by the business promotion institutions of the local and regional government authorities and the portal is realised in coordination with the network partners. The system has been built up and is being further developed with financial support from the Niedersachsen Ministry of Economics, Labour and Transport. The company regio gmbh in Oldenburg develops and operates all the services within the information system, including the Internet portal “KomSIS.de”, and is responsible for the network coordination.

Why is the information system particularly “innovative”?

Every district, every city and every municipality has its own online access to enter and manage its business site offers and to present its local location profile. This enables a high degree of quality, topicality and seriousness as far as the information on offer is concerned.

All the “search functions” and the individual business site offers and location descriptions are also integrated in local government and other websites as well as in the joint portal “KomSIS.de” – and this accomplished without the need for major technical adaptations. This multiple presentation facility not only saves time and effort, but also significantly increases the ability to find the offers that have been made within the Internet. This is also reflected in the web statistics: with an average of 9,000 visitors and 120,000 page hits each month, KomSIS.de has established itself as one of the most-used statewide location portals in Germany.
